Low Porosity Dense Guing (LPGM)

Calderys invented and patented Low Cement Castable (LCC) technology. Furthermore, we have developed a large family of these products for all industries as they present very impressive mechanical characteristics and can compete with bricks.

In addition to regular guing castables, Calderys continued to iovate by inventing a new guing installation technique for LCC with specific formulations and guing machines—both patented. Using the same amount of mixing water as traditionally vibrated LCCs, these guing mixes, named "Low Porosity Dense Guing (LPGM)," have mechanical properties matching their corresponding LCCs; exceptional Cold Crushing Strength and abrasion resistance, very good deformation under load values, great thermal shock resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance. In addition to these characteristics, LPGMs have proven to offer a service life comparable to that of cast-vibrated LCCs.

Calderys, with its specific lances for guing machines, has demonstrated that installation efficiency on jobsites is approximately 50% greater when using LPGMs compared to brick linings.

In order to meet the increasing productivity needs of our customers, Calderys has continued to iovate and develop LPGMs for over 20 years. This has resulted in the following upgrades:

• High abrasion resistance for cement and power plants with products like the CALDE™ GUN LB 84
• Very high alkali resistance for incineration, cement, and blast furnaces when guing with CALDE™ GUN LA 50 SZ
• Slag resistance for the ruers, with additions of SIC and carbon, as found in our CALDE™ GUN G LA 65S5 product
• Slag line resistant refractories for the steel industry with spinel forming products such as CALDE™ GUN LT 95 SP

Calderys now collaborates with the end-users to install Low Porosity Dense Guing Mixes for maintenance, which decreases the stoppage duration on turnkey projects in cement plants, fired coal power plants, blast furnace revamping, and full contract ruers.
